 City-hosted special events and celebrations happen year-round in Lancaster. But that’s not all you’ll find in the City. From arts and culture to theatre and clubs, the City’s social and entertainment scene offers something for everyone.
Dinner and a Movie From June through August, visit Binns Park at dusk any Thursday and enjoy a free movie in a beautiful setting. Movie selections are all family-friendly. Come downtown early, and take advantage of a dinner discount at one of the participating restaurants.

The only surviving community opera company between Philadelphia and Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Delaware, Lancaster boasts one of the very few non-profit, all-volunteer opera companies in America. For more than half a century, the Lancaster Opera Company has presented some of the finest vocal talent the region has to offer. Now known as "OperaLancaster," the group maintains an active performing membership of over 100, in addition to a large number of production and administration volunteers. First FridayLancaster City is the place to be on the first Friday of every month, when visitors and residents spend the evening exploring the City late into the night. Music Friday Once is never enough…. Come Downtown on the third Friday of every month and take in the performing arts. Performances will abound throughout the 300-block of North Queen Street as well as retailers, restaurants and attractions throughout the City. Each month brings new entertainment to the streets of Downtown Lancaster.
